President's Prattle: Judging of PDI3 Competition
18/02/20Tonight, Lynda Golightly of Consett and District Photographic Society came to judge our 3rd PDI competition of the year. This is an open competition, and the range of subjects and genres was very wide making for a fascinating evening.
In spite of us recently reducing to two the number of submissions allowed per member, there were 80 photos in the competition. Lynda did very well to get through them all in almost exactly 90 minutes, whilst still giving lots of well-crafted constructive criticism on each one. It was clear that she had given a great deal of thought to her judging (even, apparently, pondering her choices whilst doing the washing-up!) and she took us through her thought processes as she discussed the merits of each picture.
The winners and honours were as follows:
1st The Office - John Field
2nd Lake Ashi and Mount Fuji - Harry McAtominey
3rd The Old Church Organ - Graham Thorpe
Well done to these three winners, and to all whose photos were highly commended.
