President's Prattle: Judging of PDI#2 Competition: Cityscapes
03/12/19This is our second year of having a broad theme for our PDI#2 competition – the theme chosen by members at the AGM this time was “Cityscapes”.
We were really lucky to have John Gravett over from Keswick to judge the competition. John has a vast experience of commenting on photographs, having been running regular residential photographic workshops in the Lake District for 20 years, in which he spends about 3 hours each evening looking through and critiquing photos taken that day by his guests. He’s therefore well versed in the art of constructive criticism and this certainly showed in his judging.
I’m pleased to report that John was complimentary about the size and friendliness of our club and the enthusiasm of our members, in addition to the high quality of very many of the photographs.
The winning images were as follows:
1st: Kenneth Moore with “Snow on the Tyne”
2nd: Mags Atkinson with “Valencia, Spain”
3rd: Harry McAtominey with “Thames Sunrise”
Well done to the winners, and to those who received a Commended or Highly Commended accolade.
